The Chocolate Hills

Near the village Carmen you can find the famous (Chocolate Hills). The name relates to the hill’s appearance during dry periods. Science tells us that the chocolate hills emerged at a time when the island of Bohol remained submerged in the ocean. Much more romantic however is the folklore that explains chocolate hills formation being a result of the tears from a love-forlorn giant.

On arrival, as the visitor expects, one is confronted with a very unusual landscape. From a restaurant, some stairs lead to an observation platform which offers an undisturbed view of this extraordinary geological formation.
